The Edge Fibreglass & Silk System is designed for a natural-looking, durable nail enhancement.
What Is Fibreglass & Silk?
Fibreglass and silk nails are a type of nail enhancement that use lightweight fabric wraps (fibreglass or silk) to add strength, reinforce natural nails, or repair broken nails. They are often chosen for their thin, natural appearance and are a great alternative to acrylic or gel nails. These nails are popular for those who prefer a more natural enhancement or need a temporary solution for damaged nails.
Benefits of Fibreglass & Silk Nails:
- Natural Look: Both fibreglass and silk wraps are thin, making them look more like natural nails.
- Ideal for Repairs: Perfect for fixing broken or split nails, as the wrap can reinforce weak spots.
- Lightweight: They don’t feel heavy on the nails, providing a comfortable experience for the client.
- Alternative to Acrylics: Suitable for clients who may have allergies to acrylic or prefer a thinner enhancement.
Application Process:
- Prep the Natural Nail: Clean, buff, and shape the natural nail.
- Cut the Wrap: Trim the fibreglass or silk wrap to fit the nail.
- Apply the Wrap: Place the wrap over the nail and secure it with a resin adhesive.
- Cure: Use an activator spray or let the resin air-dry.
- Buff & Shape: Smooth the surface and shape the nail as desired.
- Top Coat: Apply a top coat for a shiny finish and added protection.
Fibreglass Nails
- Material: Fibreglass wraps are made from thin, woven fibreglass fabric.
- Appearance: The material is strong but more transparent, giving a natural finish.
- Application: The fibreglass wrap is cut to the desired shape, applied over the natural nail, and secured using a nail resin (adhesive). It’s then cured with an activator spray or left to air dry.
- Durability: Offers excellent strength while remaining flexible, making it less prone to breakage. Great for clients who need added strength without a thick look.
Silk Nails
- Material: Silk wraps are made from a softer, finely woven silk fabric.
- Appearance: Silk is smoother and has a finer weave, giving an even more natural and delicate appearance.
- Application: The silk wrap is cut and applied similarly to fibreglass. The resin adheres the silk to the nail, and once cured, it’s filed and buffed to a smooth finish.
- Durability: While not as strong as fibreglass, silk wraps offer a flexible, lightweight feel. Ideal for clients with brittle nails or those seeking a natural look.
